Supporting GDPR
Hi
One of the main aspects of GDPR (that comes into force 25 May 2018) is that users must give consent (preferably via checkbox) to the privacy policy of the site they are signing up for.
Are you planning on including some way of adding a GDPR/Privacy Policy checkbox to WooCommerce Social Login when user signs up? If a checkbox could be offered alongside the social icons that would be ideal. Also some way for user to click link to see the Privacy Policy would be required.
Ideally, it should have a checkbox and a bit of text that says something like “I consent to the Privacy Policy” with a link to the site’s Privacy Policy page. Maybe the text could be user definable in settings?
The user should only be asked this when they are signing up, so would be ideal to have this available via short code option also.
I think WordPress themselves might have to make some changes for GDPR such as storing a user field that states when user consented to Privacy Policy, so there might be a WordPress update soon which does this and you could save the date there.
Maybe it’s a good idea to be prepared for the GDPR deadline of 25 May and see what WordPress does before it.

Hi, thanks for updating the plugin to include the GDPR content.
I’ve tried it out on my staging site and have the following comments:-
1. Where I use the shortcode [privacy_policy] the text that is then shown is privacy policy – this should use capital letters so Privacy Policy so that its clear and also the link should be displayed as a link otherwise user won’t know they can click it unless they hover over it.
2. Where the text is shown – above the social login buttons – there needs to be some spacing between the text and the buttons as the text is too close to the buttons and it doesn’t look great.
Thanks for work on this so far and if you could include the above fixes I would use it on my live site too.
Thanks,
Pat Walsh

Hello Pat,
Thanks for submitting your idea here.
We are keen to implement this in main plugin. We are in a discussion with a team how this can be implemented in the plugin.
It would be great if you can provide us a reference if you have any in your mind. 🙂
Many Thanks,
Norris
